Biography

CBM Pathology, a Sonic Healthcare Anatomic Pathology Practice, is privileged to include Alan Oroxom, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Oroxom has extensive professional experience with an impressive academic background.

Dr. Oroxom earned his medical degree from the San Carlos University Medical School in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Here, he subsequently served an internal medicine residency at the Guatemala City General Hospital.

Dr. Oroxom later relocated to the United States to resume his medical education, starting with a five-year anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the Howard University Hospital. He then completed a hematopathology fellowship at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Oroxom has since held several key positions across an extensive career that has spanned over three decades. Upon concluding his postgraduate training, he was employed with Quest Diagnostics as a staff pathologist. He then began working with MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital, where he served variously as an associate staff pathologist and a medical laboratory director for 15 years. He was also a consultant pathologist for PathAI, a technology company based in Boston, Massachusetts that specializes in applying artificial intelligence to pathology interpretation. Most recently, he was a staff pathologist for Southern Pathology Laboratories in Puerto Rico before joining the staff of CBM Pathology, where he currently serves as a staff pathologist.

Dr. Oroxom is a member of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. He holds full medical licensure in Maryland, and he is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
